Fashion week is the most important week in the fashion world, it's how people can spot upcoming trends. This is a key event for journalists and fashion buyers who will often go to such events in attempts to report on new trends and to keep ahead of everyone. It's where everyone in the industry is in the same room.

What's the secret behind the operation?

Fashion weeks are usually held in February and September. It's an opportunity for designers to show their fashion creations. But when did it start?

The first fashion week goes back to 1943, initially named 'Press Week'. It was held in New York. At the time they couldn't attend the shows in Paris due to the War until it eventually got its name 'Fashion Week'. Now it consists of shows all over the world in, Milan, Copenhagen, and London, just to name a few...

The purpose of these shows is for designers to introduce the public to their new collection. It is an extremely fast-paced environment but equally just as rewarding.

The pressure is on as not only are some of the most elite members of the industry in attendance but also the hardest to impress of them all, social media is watching!

London Fashion Week live streams are watched all around the world so you must be able to have thick skin to withstand some of the public opinions.

Volunteering at Fashion Week is a way to put your foot in the door. Send a message to lots of brands with shows during the week and you might just get a reply. It is a great opportunity to experience the fashion world first-hand and the behind-the-scenes of what goes into creating the event. If you are lucky enough to have this opportunity, make sure you chat with anyone you can!

Skills needed to become an event planner.

Organisation skills - It's absolutely necessary to be organised. Events in fashion involve hundreds of industry professionals who expect to see a perfectly executed show.

Great Verbal and written communication skills - This career means you will be working with lots of different people, whether it's emails or in-person conversation. Everyone around you must know exactly what's going on to avoid any last-minute miscommunication before a fashion event.

Creativity is key - We may see over a hundred shows a year and you need to have new ideas that set you apart from other fashion shows, you need to be creative!
